Halloween downtown: 6 activities to get into a spooky mood

This summer has been very busy downtown Montreal and it’s far from over! If you were lucky enough to participate in the many activities that took place during the warm season, you’ll be happy to know that the action continues this fall with a busy activity calendar.

When the heat and frozen drinks give way to colorful leaves and pumpkin spice lattes, we know what that means: Halloween is upon us!

Too old to go Trick-or-treating and looking to experience Halloween in a different way? Here are some activity ideas – some terrifying, some less so – taking place downtown Montreal at the end of the month :

1- Discover Haunted Montreal

Downtown Montreal will never look the same! This fall, explore the paranormal with Haunted Montreal, which is organizing two Halloween themed tours that are bound to give you goosebumps and make you see the city center from a new angle.

1- Haunted Downtown

During this guided tour of approximately 90 minutes, a professional actor and storyteller will explore with you the bars, forgotten cemeteries and hotels where paranormal activity was once seen. When? October 22 and 31 from 8pm to 9:30pm.

2- Haunted Pub Crawl

Need a dose of liquid courage before diving into the paranormal universe of downtown bars and brasseries? Spend 2 hours touring haunted pubs and hearing about the deranged stories that happened there. When? October 30 from 4pm to 6pm.

2- Celebrate at Concordia’s Halloween Party

The famous student Halloween party is back this year for a 6th edition that promises to be the most terrifying of all. Buy your tickets online and head over to Jet Night Club on Crescent Street. Bonus: put extra effort into designing your costume and you could win a prize for best costume of the night. When? Monday October 31.

3- Discover the haunted house at Latin Groove

The Latin Groove dance school located in the Golden Square Mile is organizing a Halloween themed evening to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Visit their room of nightmares where a dance show, animation, DJ, cocktails and other surprises will take place. When? October 28 between 9pm and 10pm.

4- Pull an all-nighter at Laser Game Evolution

Want to extend the evening? Laser Game Evolution is pulling an all-nighter for Halloween. Sport the dark labyrinths with no limits from 10pm to 5am and let off steam on the bad guys. Animations, drinks, candies, contests, character games and many other surprises await! When? October 28 from 10pm to 5am.

 

5- Attend The Smashing Pumpkins concert with Jane’s Addiction and Poppy

American alternative rock lovers will be served a few days before Halloween: The Smashing Pumpkins will give a concert at the Bell Center with Jane’s Addiction as special guest and Poppy as opening act. When? October 26 at 6:30pm.

6- Spend some quality family time at the Time Out Market Montreal Halloween Party

This year, Time Out Market Montréal is throwing its biggest party ever to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Bring the whole fam and enjoy all the free surprise activities planned over a 48-hour period!

On Friday, October 28, get in the Halloween mood with music from DJ Don Barbarino, a costume contest, signature cocktails, a makeup artist and a mariachi band.

On Saturday, October 29, have brunch while painting your own pumpkin. You can also attend a live poetry session by Yolk Poetry.
