On the occasion of World Philanthropy Day,

we want to highlight an organization that fights against a cause that is close to our hearts: la Fondation Jeunes en Tête.

La Fondation Jeunes en Tête is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of psychological distress among young Quebecers aged 11 to 18. It provides teens with the resources and support needed to create meaningful and positive impact, through its own programs and initiatives.

Today, more than ever, the state of our collective mental health is struggling. And, it has been particularly hard for teenagers who’ve seen their social and academic lives turned upside down. The foundation believes that currently:

More than a third of teens consider themselves under great psychological distress

More than 25% of adolescents say they are stressed or anxious about the pandemic

It’s encouraging to know that raising awareness of mental health issues at a young age increases the odds that teens will receive proper care and avoid long-term consequences. This is why it is so important to reach out to our young people and give them the help they need as early as possible.

Montreal Center-Ville is proud to support the Fondation Jeunes en Tête through several initiatives :

More recently: The Thanksgiving Auction

Last October, the foundation launched a brilliant initiative, organizing an online auction where a large number of local businesses generously participated by offering prizes for bidding. From a trip to Western Canada to a box of 96 assorted artisan donuts, there was something for everyone (and every budget) – everyone who participated was able to give generously to the cause while having a great time.

We were able to contribute by offering gift certificates to various downtown restaurants – a way to give them more visibility in these difficult times – allowing us to support two causes at once.

Happening now:  The «Win Your Downtown Purchases» Contest

Win Your Purchases Downtown

Keep Your Receipts! On November 2, we launched the “Win your purchases” game with the support of the Ville-Marie borough. The way it works is very simple: you get a 1 in 10 chance of winning a virtual gift card equal to the value of your purchases, up to a maximum value of $250. Pretty awesome, right?

We launched this initiative with two very specific objectives in mind:

1- Support and encourage downtown shops and restaurants

2- Raise funds for the Fondation Jeunes en Tête.

Mental health is an important cause to support. This is why, as part of the campaign, the SDC Destination Centre-Ville is committed to donating 1% of all purchases made in the downtown area.

Coming soon : Valentine’s Day Ball

Since 2004, the Valentine’s Day Ball has brought together personalities from the Montreal business community who wish to express their support for young people in a festive and elegant atmosphere. Because of the ongoing pandemic restricting large gatherings this year, the Fondation Jeunes en Tête is currently preparing a reinvented philanthropic experience. Discover our prizes for this year !

Fondation Jeunes en Tête, for this year’s edition, will offering participants to buy heartwarming and gourmet experiences. It’s their way of highlighting our amazing downtown businesses while helping to prevent psychological distress among teens. More details coming soon.
